im using a Have a Heart live trap. No bait works so far...
chicken, peanut butter canned cat food.
any other sugestiions please?

Glad you joined us! Possums are attracted by pet food, windfalls from fruit trees, rubbish bins, bird feeders and chicken coops. Make your property unattractive by keeping rubbish bins shut and secure, taking pet food bowls in at night and regularly pick up windfalls under fruit trees. Possums are very easily deterred by light and noise and Christmas lights have proven to be particularly effective in keeping them away. During the day, leaving a radio playing near the chicken run will also help deter them. Another very effective way of keeping them away from your chicken is by placing empty tins with ammonia soaked rags inside round the perimeter of your coop and run. Punch holes in the tins and keep the tops sealed. Possums are very good climbers, but can be prevented from climbing over wire mesh fences by installing a tightly stretched electric fence wire near the top of the fence 3 inches out from the mesh.

I live in the country. foxes, raccoons, possums and and other type critters abound.
I do keep all pet food inside. My question is a good bait for my " have a Heart trap".
I relocate them to a great place way down river from me. This works for about 6 months then another one moves into the teratory .
It will always be an issue but need food advice to catch this rascally one .

You've gotten some good ideas above, you might want to post in the Predator section for more bait suggestions, we always used fish flavored canned cat food with great success https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/13/predators-and-pests Are you sure you are dealing with possums? Might also try free baiting for awhile if you have a trap smart pesky one, then move the bait into an open trap, then set the trap.
 
Yes , I've seen her for a week now just strolling thru my back yard . Free baiting is a good idea. I've never had this much trouble trapping one.

The only problem with removing a predator, there is always another to replace the one removed. So the best solution is to either deter them and make sure you are predator proof. I have had great luck with solar lighting. My area is lit up like an airport runway! LOL But it works. Bright ones, dimmer ones, red ones....you can probably see us from space!! But I never have had any trouble with prowling predators. Some of my lights are 8 years old and the only maintenance I have done on them is clean the battery contacts ever couple years. I think I have only replaced one batter in all these years and I must have 20 or more solar lights. (I not only have chicken coops, but quail aviaries too)

No, my boyfriend suggested putting on boots and jeans , running out and kicking it. It will play dead then just pick him up put him in a carrier and deport him :)
Will this work? I see him every night.
