I am ready to give my broody eggs to hatch she has been broody over a week now sitting in nesting box bare chested and clunky lol! Thinking I can move her to a nursery I set up and hope she will settle on them... Or slip eggs under her in the coop with the rest of the hens..I'd rest here move her after dark tonight for safety if not peace of mind for myself while at work!!
Any thoughts or advise?.

Nice nursery but most broody's do not like to be moved and you just might get lucky but make sure she excepts the nursery before you purchase egg's or if you already have some as it might be a waste ......

thanks.you are right she didn't do well last night .. this morning ran back to the coop to her favorite nest!! so i slipped the eggs back under her and was setting comfortably on them when I left for work!! hope she's still there later today :)
I guess I can use the nursery for a grow out pen or if there is a problem with the girls bothering her.
 
If she's been there for a week already, she'll most likely stay on the nest. I have moved a couple of broodies with success, and I have moved some without success. There are no guarantees one way or another. I would make sure she's going to stay on the nest after being moved before giving her eggs. (I moved one broody who had been sitting for a week and her 13 eggs at night once, and the next morning she was completely flipping out, and just about every egg was broken and scattered around. I didn't even put them in a small space where she could have accidentally broken them.) Last year I had a very determined broody who would not set if I moved her. I tried 3 different times! I've also had some that will sit like nothing ever happened after being moved. You just never know. Since you are leaving yours with the flock, I would suggest marking her eggs so when others get in the box to lay, you'll be able to pull them out.
 
thanks I did mark them and you are right different broody different attitude.. I just had a great experience with my 1st broody about a month ago but only got 1 chick (she had 4 eggs :( 1 broken-1 not hatched-1 died after hatch 1-cute chick) she was a great broody and is an awesome mom!! she is a black astralop

this one is a cuckoo maran she is very gentle but definitely different.. shes on 6 eggs so I'm hoping for a better outcome this time

This young pullet went broody at 20 weeks but also managed to get the other lady's to donate some extras .... but I did try to move her but she would have no part of it and went back to the original spot ......







21 days later out come some chicks and after a dozen hatched out I removed the rest and put them in the incubator and finished the hatch then returned the chicks to the pullet .......






She out grow this in just a couple of days .....






Now just as with the egg thieving she also took other chicks in broad daylight .........






So I put her in a box and by day 4 to my surprise she was out of the box and in the yard with her chicks chasing bugs and eating everything she could find but when it was time to go 22 days she up and walked away from the chicks and went back to producing egg's and stay's up high off the ground watching the chicks who are on the ground in a free range mode ........
 
well got home from work yesterday only to find Rita not on the eggs I gave her but in the nesting box on the eggs rest of the girls laid there infertile eggs LOL so I gave her a talking to and set her on the right eggs..(told her this was last chance ) this am she was still on the "right " eggs hoping she gets it and will now set and hatch these babies...
 
I only have one hen that has hatched in the coop, im pretty lucky that my other two don't mind the move, this last one that went broody is a maran and we set her up in her own space next to the coop. I didn't even open the door to her enclosure for two days, saw her off the nest yesterday afternoon and was able to confirm from the other side of the wire that she still has all eight eggs, but as soon as she saw me she went right back on them lol, she is only 6 months and a few days old!!
