Anyone have a recommendation for where to get golden sebrights? I've been looking for nearly a year and cannot seem to find them out here (well, 3 birds on craigslist that I wouldn't have even been able to identify as sebrights as opposed to bantam-crosses). I have an absolute fantastic hen (friendly & calm, lays 5 eggs/week year round when not allowed to go broody, excellent broody when given the chance, predator wise, and meets standard for looks on top of it) and I really want to get a line going out of her. Purely selfish reasons...she's my favorite hen and I want lots more like her! I'll even take hatchery birds & work out the kinks over the generations if someone can point me in the direction of which hatchery has the nicest bird of this variety. (I was all set to order hatchery birds when I saw photos of some young adults someone around here had ordered & was trying to sell. I'm sure there was sebright in there somewhere. <shudder>)

Dunlap Hatchery in Caldwell, Idaho, breeds Golden Sebrights. They are a smaller hatchery, but I have ordered chicks from them on several occasions, and like their birds and their service better than the three larger hatcheries that I have ordered from. The folks at Dunlap are very friendly and helpful and I have have never lost a chick in a shipment from Dunlap (I can't say that about the other three larger hatcheries). Good luck in getting your Golden Sebrights.
