Oak leaves for litter, natural sand in the poop board, grass clippings in the nest?

Our house is surrounded by oak trees and as such we have piles of leaves everywhere. Is it ok to use the oak leaves in the bottom of the chicken coop as litter? I use them in the garden and in the compost bin also. If you dig down a bit outside you get sand so I was thinking I could use that in the poop board. As far as the grass goes we have native coastal grass in clumps out there and I think I can scythe off plenty for a couple of nesting boxes.

I'm trying to use things we already have around the house and all the above mentioned things are materials that they will encounter in their run on a daily basis.

Thank you for the advice.

I suspect the biggest issue with the leaves is that they will just turn to dust in a very short time. If you have lots and plan to replace them often then it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks yyz0yyzO. The coop will get cleaned once a week or every ten days depending on my schedule and the leaves will go into our compost bin. I've got plenty of leaves to last.
