They are indeedy...I marked how tall at the withers they were on the divider wall in their room on Aug 17, both were at 15.25 inches.
Sept 21, Em is 17.25 and Lace is 17.5 inches which means they will not be UNDER sized as adult female ACDs. I noted they were growing...having to clip toenails every two weeks (hear a click, time to clip), but they are growing like bad weeds, eh.
No guesses yet to what colour Emmy would be with no black hairs? Too afraid, too much info...here, I will simplify it even more.
Emmy is a Blue, Black, and Tan ACD...
Hair colours = BLUE BLACK TAN
Emmy is a BLUE BLACK TAN ACD
In canine colours:
BLUE is a mix of Black and White hairs
BLACK is Black hairs
TAN is Red hairs
Now put it together like an equation...
BLUE (Black hairs and White hairs) + BLACK (Black hairs) + TAN (Red hairs)
Now take away the BLACK hairs in the above equation...
BLUE (Black hairs and White hairs) + BLACK (Black hairs) + TAN (Red hairs) = ????????????????????????????
By removing the BLACK hairs from the equation above, what coloured hairs are left? Not so difficult a question now, eh...
One has to see the pack of ACDs I have had and instantly see why colour genetics intrigued me.
My coats of many colours, I needed to know, what made each one the colour that they be!
My pack of many colours...
So for those wanting to leap ahead in the lessons with all the brilliant answers you shall have...
What genetic colour is Emmy in the Agouti and Extension series?
Here are some examples for you to get thinking on...
Makins is a Blue, Black & Tan ACD.
Makins is at / at and E/-
Makins' colour genetics in the Agouti series are at / at and in the Extension series E/- or E/?
We may use a question mark because in all dominant alleles, this one dominant allele could be hiding other recessive forms in the series. The colour chocolate (brown which explains the use of the letter b) is another series where you have to mark B along with a question mark as in B/? (some use the "-" as in dash too, so B/? and B/- are the same things).
Question mark or dash have to be used unless you have DNA colour tested like in HyBlade's case, we knew by the DNA colour test we had done, he was B/B. We did not put his colour down as B/? or B/- because he was a proven B/B...pure for not chocolate.
Because Makies is blue, black and tan, she must be the bottom recessive in the Agouti series for ACDs... at / at
Because Makins is expressing lots of dark black pigments in her hair coat, she must be E/- or E/?
So now let's do another ACD...let's do Fixins' Agouti and Extension series shall weeze?
Fixins is Red Speckled
Fixins is at / Ay and E/-
Fixins was daughter to Makins who was at / at so Fixins had to have gotten ONE at from Makins and her Sire Baer was a dark red speckled, so he contributed one Agouti Ay which made Fixins at / Ay in the Agouti series and E/- or E/? in the Extension series.
