I'm chick sitting for a friend and they just let their chickens (13 weeks old) free range and they said to just let them out during the day and put them inside at night. (i have chickens too) Today was the first day and when we went out to let them out they were already out and all of them were fine except for one Silkie. He looks like he got attacked and them left alone. We brought him homw because we didn't want any of the other chickens hurting him and he looked very lethargic. I'm boiling him a egg now and I gave him sugar water. He has not eaten so do you think I should force feed him? He did drink a little.
I have some goat yogurt I could give him too (homemade). Should I try cutting the feathers around the areas with dry blood on them? What should I do about the swelling on his face? I opened that eye and it looks fine his other side is good too.
Please help
!

Little bit of blood on his wing.

His unharmed side of face.

Poor soul..he is looking depressed and in shock... maybe apply a little diluted betadine/iodine to his wounds and leave him in a darkened area..he may well be feeling better tomorrow...I would not at this stage try force feeding him...he needs to be peaceful right now and to try and force feed him would only stress him further...

As you will know Silkies are susceptible to head injuries...if their head is pecked..if he has no injuries to his head that may be causing the eye swelling I would just take it that bruising and pecking to his facial area are what has caused the swelling..if he is sleeping then let him rest for now....

He's sleeping standing up. Is that a good sign? I really can't see any wounds and that's why I'd have to shaving the feathers off where I see blood.
He has no head wounds. What do you think attacked him? I think a dog would do way more damage, but I was thinking maybe cat or hawk?
I found these in my first aid kit. Will any of these work to put on the wounds (if I can find them)?

Do not use anything with caine in it...I noticed one of the medications you show has lidocaine,,do not even consider it for your sick boy...!,

The last one on your post would be better,,,,

Likely to be a hawk...cats would not normally attack a chicken of such age being 13 weeks he is not a young chick... you must be distraught at this happening when you are looking after the chickens of a friend...you are doing a wonderful act here...if he survives it will be due to your care.... keep your faith he will likely be much better after a rest at your home...

Should I offer egg or/and yogurt or should I try trimming the feathers and putting the stuff on it?
Should I put him under a heat lamp?
