I have young chickens that have just started laying and I worry about the temperature of the eggs in the nest box. Sometimes I can't collect them until late afternoon and the eggs are very hot. Not knowing exactly when they were laid they could have been laying there nearly all day and our outside temperatures reach over a 100f. Are these still ok to eat as our daytime temperatures will be this hot all summer?

I am not and expert but how warm are the when a hen sits on them? Do the egg test put them in a bowl of water and if they float, throw them out! Sinkers are keepers! There is a 123 chart on BYC facebook page that explains it better, that is just how I remember it Sinkers are keepers, floaters are throwers!

I think that they are fine to eat. A test for if an egg is good or not is if it floats in water it is a bad egg and if it sinks it is good.
