Can't push in horizontal nipples into PVC pipe... help please!

Ok I'm back. I went to HD and bought a 2' stick of 1 1/4" PVC. Got all the connectors again for that size. Then got a 3/8" tap and dye. It worked perfect!!! They screwed right in!! Now I hope they don't leak. Eeeeek! Going to hook it up in a bit.

I am so happy for this post. Having the same issue trying to screw into 3" pipe. Just went to Lowe's for a tap and dye bit!
