We lost our one silkie chick to a coon 
My daughter picked him specifically for herself and was the only one she picked out of the 20. Then three days later her cat had kittens and one was stillborn. She tried for over 30 minutes to save him but it was to late. She was having a bad week!
She went to the feed store with my husband and they found out that they had one more shipment of chicks coming in and they were silkie chicks. She begged and pleaded. I think she would have made a deal with the devil to get some silkie chicks.
I told her we already had 11 chickens and we just couldn't afford to build a new coop or afford to buy baby chicks.
Little did she know that mom was on a secret squirrel mission!
Three days later we pulled up to the feed store as those babies were being delivered. We picked out three buffs and one white silkie. DD was about to have her very own flock of silkie chicks! Two have vaulted skulls (both buff chicks). All four still had their egg tooth.
When we got home she heard the chipping and I told her I got ducks (she knows that I want ducks). She later told me she knew they were chicks but didn't know how to tell me I got swindled and those were not ducks because she didn't want to hurt my feelings lol.
