Peafowl Business Questions

I would price a little higher. 1. to encourage people to research before buying and 2. because your costs

With the V in Veto you could make the V in the logo into a butterfly peacock feather.

Dylansmom mentioned she sold some peafowl feathers at the renaissance fair. You could go to local events like that and sell feathers. The last time I sold feathers I had a booth at the flea market. I was trying to sell glass jewelry but all we sold were peacock feathers.

KKB sells at the renaissance fair, not me. I am mainly online.

Well I'm 16 so I can't do that yet sadly. On my website I'm making I state that my feathers are cruelty free and explained that the feathers weren't plucked nor was the bird killed to get the feathers. I've heard of some people that pay more for cruelty free feathers. If I do get as many peafowl as I hope I do I might be able to get over 480 feathers if they are just as good as this year with Colbolt. Right now I have 122 feathers that are sale quality. 92 eye feathers. I'm still collecting though he isn't done molting. That fly fishing store thought I wouldn't get 100 eye feathers and I'm almost there. $1 for each is the smallest deal I will take. I hope this peafowl business goes really well.

If you really want to make the feathers pay off it will take some time to establish a good reputation for quality cruelty free feathers. You will have to clean and sanitize your feathers so spend the next 2 years perfecting a routine for doing this economically and sell locally while getting things in order. I can give you some pointers if you want, I have been doing this for 10 years and have a great base of regular clients who buy directly. We sell feathers from approx. 70 adult Peafowl male and female. We sell all types of train feathers, wing feathers and the body feathers. I will pretty much sell out over the course of a year, so that is about 4000 train feathers sold. I couldn't even guess how many body feathers I sell, and wings sell out as well. I make WAY more money selling feathers than I do selling eggs or chicks. I have to file taxes as a business because of the feathers. It is a bit of a pain, but it pays the feed bill.

That sounds good that they can pay to feed themselves. Thanks for the advice. The fly fishing store said to freeze the feathers is that safe or what should I do to make sure the feathers are clean without risking the feathers breaking?

I just got this new recruit. I think it's a hen but I could be wrong. This is my first BS chick and she is 3 months old. I named her May since that's when she hatched out.

I got the logo I just don't know if I like all the random colors that I used I might change the feathers and use some actual photoshop to put in some birds and digital letters and images to make it look more professional.

When you do it in photoshop, you can open up a photo of a peacock and use the eyedropper tool to get colors from a peacock to use for the text.

I just wish I had older BS and White peacocks that had a train that way during the winter I could get the photo I need to move them from a perch to the lettering. I just might have to edit my logo later one in the future. The only place I can get photoshop is at school. I don't have it on my laptop I use paint to edit my photos. I wish I had photoshop though.
