I have 2 pullets that hatched out of 2 black parents. Their sibling hatch mates are black with green sheen as where both parents. These two pullets have NO sheen at all. Some people I've asked said they are BLUE, others have said CHOCOLATE.
What color are these 2 young ladies. They are pictured at 18 weeks of age. For comparison the black birds in the pics are their hatch mates siblings (same hatch date same parents). They look different in direct sun and indirect sun. First 2 pics are "indirect sun", last 4 pics are "direct sun".

You know, they do look brown or Chocolate to me. I think it might be possible because after all, the new colors do come from mixing the old, established colors. I'm not a genetics expert though, so maybe they wouldn't breed true, but they sure look chocolaty to me!

I concluded through research that IF in fact these 2 pullets are chocolate then they received the gene from their father as from what I have read, choc pullets receive the gene from their father. Their father is true black, not blue, not chocolate. If these are in fact Chocolate pullets, gene received from daddy, then they should breed true... right?
