celebrate.gif Just wanted to pop on tonight quickly to state that ALL chickens are accounted for.  DH and I searched and searched the property, but could not find the missing 3 chickens, so where ever they were hiding, it was a GOOD hiding spot!!  I do think they might have crawled into the space surrounding a wood pile that our neighbor left us (he was widening the path a little and cut down a bunch of trees/shrubs and left them for us to chop up if we wanted firewood).  This is not densely packed wood, so I am thinking they might have hid in there, not sure.  Anyway, thank you all for your well wishes!!  hugs.gif

Oh and BHep...sorry, but those labor vibes didn't take...lol

I'm a SAHM happily married to the man of my dreams with two DD (another due 7/2013), 1 cat, 3 Marans, 1 Misc. Rooster (Tyrone); 4 Ducks (Cadbury and his girls), 8 assorted pullets, 5 babies and MORE chicken math to come.

~John 4:16  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Accounted for are: both cochins (Belle & Olivia - my broody), Both black orps, my yellow-bellied Lav. orp rooster (hiding in the nesting box) and his girl my lav. orp.   I am missing my white Maran, my 2 buff orps!!  fl.gif  I am praying they found a really good hiding spot in the woods and I just can't see them!!  rant.gifI'd love to get my hands on that dog if he did anything to my chickens... rant.gif

Thanks for letting me vent and freak out...sadly, if this doesn't send me into labor...I don't think anything will!! gig.gif

In Cumberland Co. the cops tell us if you have a dog problem just shoot it smile.png . They will not come out over just a dog bothering you or your livestock. Just shoot it and end the problem  for everybody.

This is out in the country NOT the city! There they can't even shoot a gun without getting in deep dodo!

Good luck

Scott

These are my new darlings I got at WCA on Sunday.

Bantam - Birchen Modern Game 1.JPG

Bantam - White and Blue Silkie 1.JPG

The Roo came from WCA... the little blue hen... we raised from an egg.

Bantam - White and Blue Silkie 2.JPG

Call Ducks.JPG

I think the 4 ducks we got from WCA this weekend might be Calls... they look about the same age/size as the ones we hatched out ourselves.

Fantail Pidgeon 2.JPG

And this little guy is headed back to the WCA next weekend.... Unless one of you guys want a white silkie roo... Nothing wrong with him... I just wanted one rooster (the box came with 2).

1st- walk the dog everyday for atleast 30mins, and do at least two 10min training sessions a day, just you and her, make her sit, stay.lie down etc. If you use harness switch to a collar or get a halti head collar.
2nd- when you feed her put her on a leash, make her stay, then put your hand in the bowl and mix the food up, then allow her to eat alil, then make her back away from the bowl at random intervals.
3rd- go out in the yard and play fetch or anything else, a bored dog is a destructive dog, give her a new toy every week, even if you just rotate out old toys, or get a treat ball(stuff cibble inside and the dog has to try to get it out)
4th- keep her on leash inside and anytime she begins to do a negative behavior sharply tug the leash and snap, clap,or “chhh” but don't scream “no”
5th- always stay calm and confident!
All of this will re-establish your authority! Good luck

I totally understand, I'm not sure where you are but if you do give her up please take her to a humane society that is associated with the humane society of the U.S. We have amazing training programs in place for dogs like yours. I'm sorry she has become a troublemaker, I hope she finds a good home.

ETA: if you are near Raleigh I think there is an ASPCA.

Without a doubt, I'm hoping on placing here with someone privately. I used to work at the shelter and support rescue/humane groups. Unless she does something really crazy she's going to be confined to her kennel with supervised yard visits.  It seems she gets more "comfortable" when I give her treats and let her in the house.  Do you think it could cause for her to act the way she has been?
