I actually had never done it before but I watched my mom do it on our storebought breakfast eggs (hopefully wont be needing those for much longer) and now it is quite neatly blown out and sitting on a shelf in my room with some other important memories. Poor Omelette was in the coop half the day looking for the egg. She seemed quite confused when she couldnt find it. Sillly birds lol now heres to hoping my Silkie starts laying soon  fl.gif

Great day at WCA today... all except for the 30 minutes that our fan was out of commission... but once the air was blowing through our hair again... everything was ok.  400

We sold a few and bought a few... bought a cream brabanter roo for $4.00.... now that was a deal! thumbsup.gif

Anyone out there with a hen? Or eggs?

I bet you girls made a killing! Apparently Alex, bought and then sold and somehow ended up leaving with FREE BIRDS! You all blow my mind! Hahaha

I guess I did get a little buying happy on those broilers. But they are FAT, happy and healthy. 1 or 2 will be in the freezer by the end of the week they're so fat. How could I resist the fact someone else did the hardwork for me. They were an awesome deal!

Made it home in time to be poured rain on though... somehow we missed most of the rain people got on Saturday, so my garden needed. Rather then complain I just got food and water out to the birds and came inside to curl  up on the couch with a blanket :D

So glad I got to go see everyone today, I gotta start making it up there more often. D.gif

Next time.... I'll probably be coming home with a bunny again, I fear!

Good Morning Everyone!

Everyone that came home with me from WCA are all settled in.  Tomorrow is clean-out day.  (I'd prefer today was clean-out day, but I am ordering myself to clean out the INSIDE of the house today.  tongue.gif  I'd rather clean out a chicken house than my own house.)

I only brought home 8 silver-laced Wyandottes chicks from WCA and two BLRWs from Beth.  I thought I was fairly well controlled...seeing as how I planned to go home empty-handed!  (It's Beth's fault!)

Okay...off the computer and on to the housework.  sickbyc.gif

Maybe I should offer chickens in payment for someone else to come clean my house!

Meg and Chris, plus mastiffs Murphy, Jake and Reilly, and Great Dane Levi. Orpingtons, Welsummers, Ameraucanas, Barnevelders, Rosecomb Brown Leghorns, Cuckoo Marans, and a few turkeys, along with NZW rabbits, summer lambs or calves, and who knows what else.

Glad to hear that WCA went well for all of you that went.  One day...one day I hope to actually have the experience of going!!

We are LOOKING for some ducks (meat/egg ones)- not sure how many yet, as DH is working on putting the whole system (now that he's figured out what he wants to do for/with the ducks) together this week.  We'd prefer the ducks to be older (as in close to laying age, or at least big enough that a small hawk cannot take them) - especially with a hawk around.  We will be out of town the first week of August, so if anyone has anything that will be available/ready after then, please PLEASE let us know!!  Thank you!!

How cool is this?!?  We were recently asked to sell our eggs to the coop that we buy our daughter's special food from (soy-free sheep's milk & soy free meat) for a whopping $5/dozen!!  Too bad we don't have any eggs at the moment as production is WAY down with the heat and with the chickens going broody (not to mention the broody is stealing all the eggs, I think).  When DH heard that, his response was: "Can I build another coop so we can get more chickens?!?"  LOL  lau.gif  It looks like we may be building another coop (or just "attaching" another coop to the current one) for more chickens!!  He even asked me what all we would need to incubate our own, so we don't have to rely on a broody!!  Someone has gotten bit by the chicken bug BAD!!  I think it's a good thing we do not go to WCA, or else we might end up coming home with WAY TOO many!!  lau.gif

Have a great day everyone!!

I'm a SAHM happily married to the man of my dreams with two DD (another due 7/2013), 1 cat, 3 Marans, 1 Misc. Rooster (Tyrone); 4 Ducks (Cadbury and his girls), 8 assorted pullets, 5 babies and MORE chicken math to come.
