I take the water out and clean it than go to put it back, there is a big rat snake with a full belly ( it was hiding under the edge of the water container!!!! Lost another chick leaving me 2 of Peepers babies. But I got my snake, unfortunately its going a long way down the road, as this snake has a liking for chicks and not eggs or mice. It tracked them down! Sorry Hollow, I'd feel bad come spring when your replacement babies got eaten. I would have cut the snake open to save the chick but the body was over half way down the snake, so the baby was eaten last night  hit.gif      Bad thing is I still have a solid black one that I seen a few days ago but wasn't able to catch.

That's quite all right, RF!  One with a belly full of chicks is better relocated to a state forest or something. (i love that you relocate!)  I'm quite pleased with the one CSB dropped by on your behalf!  I turned it loose in the feed room, as I know the mice nest there even with all the feed in metal drums and trash cans.

I'm sorry about your chicks, though.  After doing all the work to raise them, it hurts when something comes along and eats them. sad.png

I did have a nice visit with CSB today.  I made her put on plastic boot covers to walk about so she didn't take anything home with her, then made her come out and admire my turkey poults.  The cross is prettier, to my mind, than either of the purebreds they are from.  (BR and RP). I needed to show them off!    I'll be wearing boot covers when I go anywhere there are chickens too, even after the quarantine is lifted.  And my Boys also loved having her visit, and she petted them all up and made them happy.  big_smile.png

I have been trying to tell all I could to help those in the city limits. On a few occasions people have told me at the farmer's market @ Herman Park about the proposal. That is why I went to the county one day and asked, and was told that it was only talk at that time. The woman working in the planning department gave me a copy of the draft, and made it a point to let me know that it was not to the proposal state yet. If it has gotten that far in the past few weeks; I am ecstatic! I was told they were only in talks, and to tell the people that I know to call council members. Thanks for letting me know. Where can I look up this on line; I have not been able to find any definitive information on it that I could print. If you don't know where... thanks for the good news anyway, I can stop by the planning office again this coming week if I can't print from on line source. By the way... Love your little coop! I want to share the pic with my hubby, and boys. It is a work of art; beautiful!

The one problem I had with the draft was the 10 square foot requirment for each hen. My suggestion was 8 square feet per hen. This was the top of the range given from the NC Extention office in a publication I also gave them. I hope they go with the 8 instead of the 10. ( it will allow me to have 5, instead of 4!)

Thank you for your kind words about our coop. I had a great time building it and I'm pleased with how it turned out. Thank you too for working so hard to get this new law in place. Don't stop! clap.gif

Found this great collage maker site (piZap) and have made about 15 in the past 2 hours... I really need more to do with my life roll.png

Some of you may remember my hatchery silkie who got wry neck and had to be put down.

And my Reds begging for table scraps love.gif

My boy is staying, I have found out why he attacked me (I was holding a male silkie at the time, hes much better than the silkie experts at sexing lol) and he will be kept locked up when I am moving kids around from now on. Hes really the sweetest boy to me and his girls. just territorial. We shall see how he does fl.gif

Good Morning everyone!  ENJOY the weekend!!  I am super excited...DH surprised me last night with a rendering of his new plans for an addition onto our barn!  He said until the fencing gets put up, this will be our secondary coop (not counting the broody/quarantine pen we already have).  This new structure will be 8'x10' and have windows on the North & South side with a double door on the West side (it will connect to the double doors on the west side of our current barn/coop)!!  Once our garage & fencing are built, we will build a sheep/cow shed off of this one and redo the run!! I am SO excited - especially since DH expects it to be (started) finished by next weekend!!  wee.gif  What an amazing hubby I have...it ALMOST makes up for me having to spend the day with him at the golf resort!!  gig.gif  I am going to have to get busy...we don't have our 12x12 barn filled with chickens/guineas/ducks yet...looks like I may NEED to go to one of these auctions in the near future!!  gig.gif

Enjoy your weekend everyone...I'm off to get ready for a golf outing!! sickbyc.gif

Good Morning, Everyone!

Looks like another lovely day.  Hope you all have a great one!

ETA:

Oh...if there are any other knitters in here...a colleague of mine just started chemo and I'm knitting her chemo caps.  She has requested one "with hair", so I'm hunting patterns.  I've found a couple with dreadlocks (!) and will make her one of those, for sure, big_smile.png  but other patterns will be welcome.  I've searched Ravelry, but am hoping for that rare other source.  Thanks!
