Morning folks

Had a good time at the fair and was good meeting friends there too......made it SO much better to have people we know to talk to and experience all the offerings  http://www.pic4ever.com/images/grouphug.gif

There were lots of people and lots to see and do.  Got to admit about the only good thing to say on the poultry is there was some pretty colors of birds.  Was sad to see some so crowded into caged that their feathers were just plain dirty and don't know who the judges were but they may want to judge only breeds they are familiar with standards on, but since I'm not a judge I guess I shouldn't second guess their judgings. http://www.pic4ever.com/images/297.gif

The grand babies had a merry time and thats what it's all about for us.  The smiles on thier faces sure can make the fair fun.  Ended up not getting to see quite all we would have liked to but was hard to refuse those sweet faces one more ride.......or three  http://www.pic4ever.com/images/25r30wi.gif

Hope everyone has a grand day  http://www.pic4ever.com/images/dancing1.gif

Good morning smile to all my peeps!

How do you deal with a buyer that has paid for birds, but still after three(5) months has not got them. I like the eggs and enjoy the birds, but I need the run! Im starting to wonder if they can afford the birds upkeep? The Gal wants them, but her Bo is just not that concerned. The roo has spurred DW big time last night! He is sweet with me, but she gets it each time lately. Might need to trim him up? Do y'all cut spurs? how if I do it?

* I know I promised pictures, and they are coming. I use an iPhone now and the pic to forum thing has me all messed up. Of corse cam is out of batteries. I'll get my act together one day!

Honestly.... If they have not gotten them in three months they have no plans of taking them. I would tell them to come get them today or they are going up on CL for free or relist. No $$ returns as you have fed them for the last three (5) months. A roo that spurs will go bye-bye around here, once they do it, they will continue to do it.

You don't cut spurs, you take a pair of pliers and gently twist them back and forth till you feel them let loose and then they slide right off. Spray them with some blue kote and they are good to go.

JMO smile

By by spurs! Think it's gonna hurt me more than him! As far as the buyer, of corse they are friends and I'm obiously being taken advantage of. I'll make the call this afternoon. I even found free materials and went and put a floor in the old coop on the property they rent.  All they needed was a small run, feeder, waterer and the food. It boils down to prioreties, and chickens are not it for them. Argh!
Time for lunch!

If you remove spurs that way, have a firm grip on the leg.  Having someone hold the bird is always a big help.

Good afternoon everyone!!  LOVELY weather today...was a bit on the chilly side this morning for me, but both DH and the chickens LOVED it.  Our roo was up extra early this morning letting everyone know...either that, or he just wanted to see his breath.  Hmm...not sure HOW he saw his breath, but details!!  lau
Sorry I missed everyone at the fair...had to drive out that way to get my sewing machine fixed...then come to find out...I forgot the embroidery unit, so sometime this week I will be making ANOTHER trip up there!!  barnie  This pregnancy amnesia thing is a killer!!  gig  I just got a few orders to do some embroidery work for a few ladies at church...so now I am swamped with things to do and no embroidery unit to do it!! LOL, figures.  DH went out and bought me a new sewing machine to use in the meantime...and decided it would be DD's once she is old enough to not sew her hand shut!!  hit I'm sure it will be far too soon for me that she will be able to use it!!
Bhep hugs I am sorry you lost some!!  hit I will shed a few dozen tears with you!!  smile

On a fun note, I am FINALLY getting around to making the pumpkin pie for DH.  He baked the pumpkin and scooped everything out and got it all ready last night.  We belong to a food coop and since they changed the pick up date to today, he ran out there to pick up our stuff (fl trying DD on sheep's milk today... fl hoping & praying she won't be allergic) I thought by the time he gets home, not only would I have supper ready (yay for crock pots) but a pie as well.  hu it took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to wrap the crust edges in foil like the directions say.  Honestly, I prefer cakes!  Next time, I'm going to make a fresh pumpkin cake or bread or a turnover or something OTHER than a pie!!  lau
On a sad note...I have a sick cat!!  sad  I am not sure what's wrong with her.  Starting Saturday she just started getting sick (vomiting).  I thought she might have a hairball...but so far the only thing that she's getting out is a lot of foamy, thick bile.  hit  We're calling our vet tomorrow to come check her out!! She's an indoor cat, fully vetted so I have no clue what might be wrong with her.  The only thing I can think of is she has an oral fixation...she chews on everything and anything...plastic, hair, dust bunnies, string, you name it.  Some things I know are normal (string and the like) but plastic?!?  If she can find a small piece of plastic, she will eat it.  I'm afraid she might have a blockage but her tummy feels fine - not bloated, hard...  hu  I'm hoping it's just an upset tummy!!  hit  I can't bare the thought of something serious being wrong.

I hope you all are enjoying this wonderful weather!!  Time to go check on a pie!!  barnie I still HATE pie!!

My mother in law makes pumpkin rolls that I will fight for! They are so good, I usually tell my dad a week after I ate one! He really really likes pumpkin too! She uses candy roasters for the most part, I can't tell the difference. If I hadn't just ate I'd say I was hungry now, but I think it's just my mouth that wants it now. Hope your kitty gets better soon!  Enjoy the pie, it will be great!

Wicked Chicken Auction Report: Not sure where everyone was today. There were only about 120 boxes and barely any chickens. idunno

There were probably over 100 quail though spread out over 15 boxes.

There were about 15 rabbits.

Some guy brought about 15 boxes of Production Reds....they looked like older layers with their beaks trimmed and he no-saled almost all of them....he wanted $5/each. He wanted $50 each for his young peacocks....he spent a LOT of money in no-sale fees. LOL

I got lucky and picked up 2 Delaware pullets for $3/each. woot

Someone got lucky today though....left with 2 Tom turkeys and 1 hen for $15/each.

I keep meaning to go... but something ALWAYS happens that stops me from getting to go anywhere or do anything good.

Hubby's truck started messing up today and I'm STILL dealing with a huge # of viruses on my computer trying to shut me down.

Nothing is stopping me from going to the Fair tomorrow though!!!!!
