How do you keep your nipples from freezing?

I have horizontal nipple waterer and i am in Texas....Waterer frozen solid this morning at was only 27 degrees.

Maybe this would work with you system:

Switch to horizontal nipples in your bucket, drop in a submergible stock tank heater when it gets cold.
You want the plain nipples (I assume that that's what the above post refers to by horizontal nipples, not the nipples which have a spoon shape that holds water). That's what I'm using along with a submergible stock tank heater. (https://www.amazon.com/Farm-Innovat...ible+stock+tank+heater&qid=1613152160&sr=8-12) but I found it for less at Tractor Supply. I have the water dispenser inside the coop, but I've never had a freeze problem. This heater has a built-in thermostat and is durable.

Yes, water freezes at 32 degrees. My waterer is a 13 gallon tote with lid, stock tank deicer, and horizontal nipples. It was -14 outside this morning and the chickens have thawed water. Even at -22 during some years my water has stayed thawed. Those stock tank deicers are great.
