My big problem with most "show dogs" is that while they are pretty, have scads of hair and may appear to be well put together (hair can be deceiving) can they do the job the breed was intended to do??  in my humble opinion to make an Aussie worthy of being called an Aussie takes more that a CH before the name, I want to see herding titles behind the name, however most breeders do not do that because it is a lot of hair to have in the pasture herding livestock.  My last breed was German Shepherd Dogs, not the American dogs but imported dogs who to get titles on both ends such as a V, VA, or SG in front and Ssch or IPO on the end.  To give you an idea a GSD puppy from titled German Bloodlines will start at $2500 and go up.

My pup is gunna be a herding dog/pet/show, not in order though. I don't care for herding dog titles. I just want my dog to work great out with the cattle.

Sigh but the high-line GSDs now have that horrid topline. I'll pass on any current VA breeding. I love GSDs but there is nothing out there I really want anymore. I was spoiled by a wonderful dog. I still have friends in GSDs; from AKC style to DDR and Czech style to SV high-line to SV BSP style. But right now my BRaTs fit me better.

I was benched once next to Hatter at a show. On the bench, out of the ring, he was actually a pretty nice looking dog. But when Jimmy picked up the show lead a different looking dog appeared! After he retired Hatter took up herding and did fairly well at it though I was told his owner held him back. ;-)

I actually got to steward under Jimmy Moses last November. He was wonderful to work with and he really knows his dogs! I didn't get to see him judge GSDs though.
It was great to watch him, especially with young dogs or breeds known for skittish temperaments. Of course, it's always great to work with a judge who doesn't treat his stewards like slave labor lol

My dream is to own a Miky pup from Weberhaus. Unfortunately, Miky is getting older and I'm not in a place right now to afford a new dog :( He is gorgeous though.

there are many breeders in the US who title "both ends" of the dog before breeding. You just have to know where to look.

If you are going to import a dog, you also have to know where to look. Not all of those SCH titles are created equally lol
Nothing like listening to a GSD group talk about midnight trials to get an SCH on a showdog.
I guess that can be said of any dog and any title, of course. So you really have to know the breeder and what went into getting that dog titled.

I know breeders of many different breeds who work their dogs. UKC is also a good place to look if you want to find a breeder who does work and conformation.

I hate seeing GSD's all stretched out, there backs should be straight like all the others. Linky dogs dong work good out in the field.
I think there messing up GSD's.
I seen a pic of one that was CH. and his butt was sooooo close to the ground it look like he was sitting!

I think I'm going to this breeder, she's nice, she emailed me back and answered my questions and all her dogs are Beautyful with great confirmation and are herding/obedience/showmanship( AKC) and Aussie kennels club registerd!
She shows show prof, she's a self handler. I'm going to see if shell mentor me. I'd think she's to far away.
