Are you withholding her chicken food for a few hours before/after medicating? Tetracycline doesn't like calcium, dairy products and a few other things that escape me at the moment.

DUCKS ??? I thought we were discussing a chicken...
The OP said earlier that Duramycin was all they had along with triple antibiotic ointment, and that the vet wasn't a possibility. Duramycin works best when a small amount of citric acid is added to it. Ball citric acid is available in grocery and hardware store that sell canning supplies.I'm not sure if tetracycline is gonna be strong enough in this scenario. If this doesn't work, I really recommend going to a vet. Even if they don't know ducks they can at least prescribe a stronger antibiotic like sulfonamide.

The dosage for the citric acid is something I can't find. A pinch will probably do. I have asked a couple of BYC friends for dosages and answers are pending.
