For some reason unknown to me our brown (bahrams?) chickens are deadly. We let our chickens fly in and out of the run as they wish but when our browns do and someone goes back there they attack us. Just yesterday my two year old waundered back and when i turned the corner just seconds behind him he was batting off chickens. We are down there several hours a day feeding watering and socializing with them so i dont know why they are acting like this. We are to the point where we are gunna start having chicken dinners soon. On another occasion they chased me all around our back yard pecking and scratching me before i finally climbed on our barn. Any help would be great.

That's fairly unusual for hens. Chickens are flock animals and everything revolves around the flock, its security and well being. Young children darting around and often directly at members of the flock can be confused for predators and may be attacked to try and scare them off. I don't know if that's what is happening.

Are you sure there are no roosters in the flock?

When my two hens were beatig up on the others I put them in "jail" or a covered dog cage with food and water for a week. Then when you reintroduce them they are low on the totem pole and they may actualy get picked on a little but mine stoped being mean. Never seperate the ones being picked on, only the bullies

There is one silkie rooster. We have four browns three silkies and three of another kind plus six ducks but they have separate housing and we have a split fence where we separate them outside of feeding. I could walk in and they attack me my kids stand at the fence and once they see them they go bazurk. And its just the browns that do it and are violent to the others. Besides our rooster can can sit back there and the others will let us pet and hold them. The rooster was not planned but one of the very unlucky 3% chance. Idk if selling the rooster is the best option or selling the browns is. Either way i cant have my flocks stressed out like this. The brown have made this whole duck and chicken thing a nightmare

Yeah if there dangerous I wouldn't sell them.... You could always butcher them. Or sell them to someone who enjoys hunting who can butcher them

This one is about three months old but its one of our browns. They went from sitting on our shoulders during feeds to very agressive. If i do need to sell i dont even know what to ask for them. We have had them for about seven months.

If you've been hand feeding them and having them sit on your shoulders, that could be part of the problem. They're probably not attacking you so much as looking for food! They know that you and your children are where the food comes from, so they're going to come get it. I can't say for sure, of course, if this is the problem, but it makes sense if you think about it.

You have trained these birds to jump on you, so they are doing that! It's retraining time, or dinner and start over with birds that learn to be much more polite. Small children are very vulnerable to serious facial and eye injuries, and need to not be hurt! Mary
