just saw the saddest thing

DH and I are rolling up I-55 toward Chicago and I'm on my phone reading the forums. I just looked over my shoulder as we passed a semi in the darkness and what is he hauling? A couple hundred cages full of beautiful, white hens. Presumably off to the slaughter house. Poor things are packed together, their feathers wildly flapping in the wind, their heads tucked down. They just look miserable on their trek of doom. They've never experienced being loved the way all of our birds have.
I would have cried.

Poor babies.

Just what is it you think should be done with them?  From the description I think they were meat chickens headed for market.

I think the only thing we can do is hope meat birds are kept in good conditions
Unlike battery hens, so many supermarkets now are having to change to free range eggs
And free range meat birds, and its a good thing

No animals should be kept in inhumanity conditions
The members on here who raise meat birds are great because the smaller set ups
Seem to offer the best conditions

More shops should buy from these seller and not the big ones
