Question..... we have 4 Cayugas and one of them got smart and realized we have a backyard pond!

It's a raised pond and about 7' x 7'.

My question is... can the fact that it is a small turtle pond have any ill effect on their eggs when they start producing? Salmonella etc...

Thank you for any thoughts or input!

Are you hoping to raise ducklings? If so I would remove the turtle, even if its a small one sometimes it can bite the legs off the ducks,.. What type of turtle is it? If its a snapping turtle REMOVE I! Snapping turtles can drag ducks under water and can possibly drown them, or just bit there feet off.

No no ducklings at least not any time soon and they would have a very hard time getting up the 3' wall... but it's a slider so no not snapping.

More concerned about the safety for the ducks and eggs if they drink and swim in the pond...

I don't think that it would affect the eggs, I mean the ducks end up in the sam body of water in the wild right?
