New and Confused about City Ordinances Please Read and Comment!

Would you be happy if you had a few house chickens? Bantams work best. There is even a very popular thread on BYC called "people who have house chickens." My friend has been doing it for over 20 years - right now she has 4 .

Someone mentioned we could try keeping them in my 2 car garage. There really isn't anything in there. We're talking very seriously about trying to also raise meat rabbits. Looking like NZW at the moment. I'm worried about a couple of things with the garage and chickens. Number one of course is smell. Right now I don't have access to hay/straw to deep bed with. How would I go about keeping it clean and fresh smelling? Secondly what would I do for them to scratch at. Rabbits seem like a cage works well. Chickens in a small cage I'm not sure. Ideas, Opinions insights. Let me know. Also my garage isn't heated. Sounds like a small heat lamp would take care of a few animals if positioned right for the really cold nights. I'm in Zanesville Ohio. We can see some sub zero nights but mainly low teens are the lows. I'm itching to raise something I"m trying to avoid it being Cane.
 
In an Ohio garage, heat will be unnecessary. Horse stall pine shavings work best for me but you could also use sand. Make sure you use some type of bedding or the feces is extremely hard to get off of a concrete floor. You could put a tub or kiddie pool with dirt, sand, wood ash in there for a dust bath.
 
Hi guys! I kinda have a problem. Me and my family moved to a house in a town called delavan, Illinois. At the time that we first moved in chickens were legal to keep. So I bought 5 dark Brahma chicks. As they got older I let them outside in a small coop. A week after I moved them outside the city council passed a law against having chickens. I don't wanna get rid of my babies!is there any way I can keep them? I got them when it was legal!!!! Plus my neighbors don't mind them at all! Any advice would be great! Thanks and god bless!
