Hi!

I am from Portland, OR and have never raised chickens before! I am currently on a journey to gather as much information as possible before I dive into chicken raising. I am interested in raising three egg-laying chickens and am hoping to receive chicks next February. Until then, I hope to prepare myself, find a coop and create a run that will suit their needs.

Any helpful information, tips, and advice are welcomed!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Where are you getting your chickens from, & what kind of chickens are you getting?

Hi and :welcome

Three is a very good number for chickens, we've had various combinations of three chickens for most of the past six years. Each chicken requires about 4 square ft of coop space and 10 square ft of run space. (that's the only tip I can think of off the top of my head, but check out the Learning Centre and Coops page. There's lots of stuff there.)

Good luck and have fun!

I'd suggest you start at the Learning Center for more on raising chickens, the Coops section for designs and ideas and the Breeds for more on the different breeds. Enjoy the site!

Welcome aboard! I'm a newbie, too, and am patiently waiting the laying of my first egg which should arrive sometime in the next month or so. I have 3 hens and one rooster.
