is this normal?

roosters are very competitive - if one crows, the others want to outdo him. You are lucky they only do it three times a day. Roosters can handle 10 hens each, so if you buy 80 hens they would be busy with them and maybe not crow so often.

Then again once hens enter the picture - crows start to fight with each other.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Roosters can crow at any time of day or night. X2 on iwiw60's question about why you have 8 roosters. How many hens do you have? The recommended ratio of roosters to hens is 1 rooster for every 10 hens. That means that with 8 roosters, you should have 80 hens. Too many roosters can be very hard on your hens, overbreeding them, pecking them, plucking feathers from their necks and backs, battering them, and even causing serious injuries to your hens; not to mention all of the fights that will inevitably occur at some point between the rooster themselves. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
