First time incubating!

Ha ha! Thought it might!

I have a few more grey hairs and I would love to say I'd lost a few pounds in nervous energy, but that would be a lie

I will be watching your posts to see how you get on too.

Well, I have to report that we decided to send the last hatchling to the brooder in the sky this morning.

It was an easy decision as it was so tiny and so sweet, but it still could not walk and there was watery poo with a blob of blood in first thing. Fortunately he was the only one in the incubator at this stage, so I'm hoping none of the others have caught or got anything nasty.

Here in Hungary it will be very difficult to get treatment for them as everyone keeps their own chickens (amongst other things) in conditions you don't want to hear about, they are a disposable commodity and most people have no money to pay for medications and vets etc.

I tend to use Apple cider water vinegar in our animals water as a cure all, does anyone know if will benefit the chicks too or are they too young?

Sorry about your last chick:) as to the cider apple vinegar I'm not sure about chicks that age. I give mine a poultry vit and mineral supplement in the water and it hasn't done them any harm.

When my chicks first go from the incubator to the broader they get a day to orient themselves and rest and then I put a tablespoon of organic acv in their water and teach them to drink, they get crumbles with grit and very fine corn. have yet to have an issue with it... I even Will put the acv in with the adult birds once a week.
