Meyer Fry Pan Bargain

Pics
I got few orders with the fry pan, 2-25 orders and one 50. in the first 2 I got maybe 3 hens. In the 50 I got 0. So if you want females just order some, plus in the meyer meal maker which is the free chicks just ask for female.
That makes sense!! Thank you!! I’m now thinking I might just order the production pack females, like 10 or so, and then just add maybe 5 of the fry pan males onto it and of course the free chick. :) I was thinking since it’s my first time and my family doesn’t really want to do meat birds, I should probably start small. :) or I could always keep a rooster or two and hatch more layers and meat birds haha

I've come to the conclusion to order what you want. I once got 7 pullets on a straight run order of 7 Buff Orps. You can always get an "oops" but don't count on it. Just get what you want.
Thanks!!! That’s helpful!! But wow all girls!? send me some of your luck hahah although I suppose it might be bad luck since you were hoping for boys? But still. I hatched in November and got 8 boys out of 9 chicks. :th I would have loved pullets.

Yeah, I eat mine, boys and girls. The boys are bigger so boys are not a bad thing for me. But I do keep some girls as replacement layers so a mix is nice. That specific order was my first order, I was starting my flock so I thought straight run and see what happens. Luckily my 6 straight run Speckled Sussex were 4 boys and 2 girls so I got a good rooster from them. I also got one rooster out of what was supposed to be 5 Delaware pullets so that was my oops. To fill out that order I got 10 pullets from what was supposed to be 10 Black Australorp pullets.

After that if I wanted girls I ordered girls. If I wanted boys I'd order boys. But if I only wanted a few girls I'd order a bunch of boys in a large breed to fill out the order and give me some boys to eat.

From what I've read I think it is easier to say, this is definitely a boy when they are vent sexing. It's more like "this is probably a girl" when they select a pullet. So you are probably more likely to get a boy if you order all girls than you are to get a girl if you order all boys. But that's just me thinking. @gimmie birdies may not agree with that.

I have got girls in boy orders, truthfully I hope to get that because it is cheaper. One time I went to a feed store, and they had rooster chicks for .68 each, I looked in the bin, and saw a welsummer female (Dark stripe) I bought her right away, and kept my mouth shut.

Feed stores can be fun. I once saw a bin of ISA Browns being sold as straight runs. There were maybe two brown ones left but a bunch of yellow, probably more than 30. ISA Browns are red sex link chicks. The lady that managed the chicks section did not know that but she did know what red sex links were. Some are just more knowledgeable than others.

I liked my Meyers Fry Pan Bargain. I got them last year and got birds from around 2lb processed weight to 5lb processed nice birds they foraged well and were easy to handle and much more active than the CornishX. This year I am hatching my own birds but if not I would definitely do their fry pan bargain again. I did have one bird that was a hen not a roo in the bunch but other than that it was a good mix and nice weights come processing time.
