I'm a first time chicken Mom! We got our girls as day old fluffy chicks and now they're 3 months old and in their coop! We have Nugget, a Buff Orpington, Chloe, an Americauna, Hyoko, a White Leghorn and Nutmeg, a Rhode Island Red. Any advice from the veterans?

Thanks! I have predator proofed...don't worry! I couldn't sleep the first night they were outside! I even got a solar powered, sensor light to mount on a tree near the coop. I will send more pics soon!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have some good layers. White Leghorns are laying machines, and Buff Orpingtons are a wonderful breed. I have raised them for many years (still have some in my flock) and they are very beautiful, friendly and gentle, and very hardy. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! Oh, I use solar lightening too! This place is lit up like an airport runway! Ha! But it works. I have lights all around the coops and runs. Everywhere. The lights last incredibly long too. Some of my lights are 8 years old and still going strong. I have never once had a break in and believe it is all the lighting.

Enjoy this new adventure you are on with your new babies and welcome to our flock!
