So sad to hear this. As Zaz said Peas are not easy. I know of many people who do great hatching and raising other poultry, but have a very hard time with Peas. Things that other chicks like chicken, ducks, guineas can handle will often kill Peachicks. I am guessing that he may have picked up a bug from one of his broodermates. Unfortunately you may never know the cause. As a rule I do not hatch or raise anything other than Peas in my Peacock specific bator, brooders, and pens. Again, very sorry to hear this.

The same thing happened to a peachick my boyfriend hatched out one year. I gave him a peafowl egg and he incubated it and hatched the chick out and he named the peachick Taco. Taco was a bit popular on here as well, but then one day my boyfriend found him lying there dead in the playpen that Taco was kept in. It was very sad, and we didn't know how he could have died. I don't keep any other bird other than peafowl, and my boyfriend doesn't keep any birds so it isn't as likely that Taco caught something from another kind of bird. They do seem to just randomly die I guess. I always feel bad about it. Hopefully you can get some adult peafowl. The adults don't seem to be as fragile.
