There has been many things said that can be agreed with. To sum it up.... Yes, it's crazy, Yes, they won't have fun in a trailer and neither will you. It would be hard but I get where you are coming from, it is easy to get attached to chickens and not want to leave them. And that makes sense. So go ahead and bring them with you, but be careful! The fact that you want to move cross country and bring your chickens with you makes you a caring chicken owner that doesn't want to part with your flock.

Hello, just wanted to revive this thread to see if you made the trip with your flock? I may be moving to NM from FL sometime in the next couple months and I'm trying to decide if I would bring my flock or not. I have 7 chickens, 5 ducks (with 12 more in the incubator), three peacocks, two goats, two cats, a macaw, an eclectus, and a cockatiel. I think that's all of them!
Hi! I haven't moved yet, we are still saving to purchase some property so I can get up there with the hubby. I do however still plan on taking each and everyone of them. I am very attached to them, as is obvious by the fact that I am absolutely going to do this.
I have moved from the trailer idea to an extra large moving truck. PODS and the like apparently haven't heard of ND and none of them ship to the state. So the simplest and easiest way to do it I think will be to get a really big truck, divide it, and load what we are taking in the front with the animals in crates in the rear that way I can leave the door cracked for ventilation. We can pull our other vehicle behind the truck and if we switch off we can drive straight through. This way they don't have to be back there any longer than necessary and it will take less days to make the trip. There will be quite a few stops along the way for food and water breaks for everyone.

Yup, that is me the crazy lady! I am already know around home as a crazy poultry lady. I spread my "sickness" and love of fowl everywhere I go. No really, I try to get someone convinced that they should seriously consider getting a few in every place I visit, with proper education first of course. Thanks for the support, I do still plan on everyone making the move, it is just a ways out from now.

Hi all, a quick update on moving the flock. We did it. Last week we moved from NC to ND. It took 3 FULL days of driving to get here. We purchased an enclosed trailer and had extra vents installed. The entire flock made it safely. We were very blessed that we didn't lose anyone on the trip.

Awesome I'm headed from Montana to Tennessee next month just looking for threads on the subject glad to hear it went good for you I know it's an old thread lol
