I'm building a coop/sheep barn/greenhouse.

I have these windows I was given and would like to use them but just not sure how to frame them. I'd like to use them as hinged either top hinged or side hinged (preferably side hinged so I can open them right up).

I need to know what kind of rough opening I should frame for them, they are 17x18.

Once I have the rough opening done, I need to know how to frame the window ie hang it, window sill etc.

Does anyone have a good tutorial for this?

Thanks for the reply-the white window used as a door-what kind of hinges did you use on that one? Do you have a lip inside the frame that the window butts against...I think I'm getting this figured out.

The hinges are also re-claimed. Nothing special, typical door hinges.

I did trim off the lips, tracks and grooves on the window panes using a table saw.

I use re-claimed window panes. See the photos in my profile.

your windows for the coop are the same as my bedroom windows!! they are good anderson windows with a slide hinge. single pane, i like frost patterns

.

recently, i found a roof being redone on a double wide trailer with plastic sunlight windows.
i asked and got them for free and am going to supplement light in the coop in addition to my windows.

they will be easy on my skills to install, they dont have to be too precise cuts(good for me!) just well sealed with caulk.

anyway, what a great idea!!
id love a greenhouse, if you post your finished work, i might be able to plagiarize some of your ideas.

GoodLuck! looking forward to subscribing to this thread.
