So I thought I would see what the great folks at byc think about vapor "smokeless" cigarettes as opposed to traditional smokes. I quit almost a month ago, my wife and I both did. The nicotine I crave is delivered smoothly, I don't smell, and I am sure it's healthier. I guess my question is, what negative things have people seen so far from vapor smokes. Would love to know so I know what to expect.

I do think vapor e-cigarettes are better than normal cigarettes, but they still have things in them that really aren't that great for the lungs. Ideally, getting off nicotine is the best thing, but I think it's a good step to take, especially since it doesn't smell and is not filling the lungs up with as many nasty things.

However, most of the vapor mixes do contain ethylene glycol, among other preservatives that are not always listed as ingredients. Ethylene glycol is essentially anti-freeze and there have not been many studies done about the long-term effects of inhaling this into the lungs.

Good for you for taking steps for your health though! It is not easy to quit something like that!

Hi. I have vaped for 5 years now. It's a wonderful thing. Slowly the public is beginning to accept it. I have lately been carrying mine around like a piece of jewelry, LOL. I get a lot of questions.

These are not electronic cigarettes. These are personal vaporizers. Or PV. The cigarette part of the name had the public thinking that it's another sneaky thing invented by a SMOKER, who's only a bit higher in society than a leper.

Not only am I proud of myself for not smoking anymore, I feel like the ball and chain has disappeared. My life is no longer lived around when I get my next cigarette.

The liquid is NOT ethylene glycol. It's PROPylene glycol , which is used in many many household products that you put on your body or in your body. It is NOT antifreeze. Propylene glycol is an ingredient in antifreeze-- As a liquid that holds all the other poisonous ingredients in it.

PROPylene glycol is not toxic as we know so far. It's probably less toxic than bacon. It does not have the 400+ carcinogens that cigarettes do. It has some nicotine in it and flavoring. The nicotine amount can be requested by the vaper. All the way down to zero. Nicotine is a stimulant. Not a cancer causing carcinogen. An addicting stimulant just like caffeine. Look around your house and read labels and you will see that many products use PE as a liquid base for their ingredients.

The only ingredients in PV's are PROPylene glycol, nicotine (maybe) and flavoring. Nothing else. Instead of Propylene Glycol, you can also use Vegetable Glycerin.

I am so proud of anyone that quits smoking with a personal vaporizer. It's a big step and a freedom. I'm so proud of myself. 5 years. Sometimes the government has not told the truth about PV's. The government makes 36 billion dollars a year from smokers. Who would want to lose that?

If anyone needs help in a choice of what to start with, let me know. I'm a member of CASAA, helping to educate the public with the truth.
