Processed a silkie X LF cochin.

I think there is some confusion.

We all feel it when we process. But it's what we do to feed our families. I have raised my chickens their whole lives and want to follow up on the process by myself. That way I know that they are to be killed in a humane way without a lot of stress. I like the idea of a broomstick or hanging and pulling. That comforts me.

MyStonedGarden I really must apologise for hijacking your thread. All you were seeking was advice about how long to let it sit in the freezer and now I've caused it to become a huge debate about the ethics and means of killing for food. The only good thing is that we are, at least, all debating it from the same side of the fence.

I would therefore appreciate it if someone could answer MyStonedGarden's original question and thereby get me off the hook for causing this distraction.

Many thanks and apologies

Barbara

No need to apologize :D
I work overnight, so I sleep during the day. Well I've been oversleeping lately, so he has been resting for a while now. He will be cooked tomorrow, on my day off.
All questions are welcomed!

On a different note...It makes me feel so much better seeing all the healthy organs after pulling them out. I think my favorite part is cleanning the gizzard. Is that weird?

That's good to know thanks. So pleased you enjoyed him. Was he tender too? I'm amazed that the blue colour remained so striking after cooking. I really think that could catch on as a gourmet food!

That was a picture before it went in the oven sorry. He turned a dark blue and he was so tender! He was so delicious and I am very thankful
