Backyard chicken community- I need your opinion!

I understand the concern about bio security, but you did offer to buy them back, period. You did not offer to buy them back minus the price of the hatching eggs. What she did was wrong, and you probably are getting ripped off, but you are the one who made that offer. As a business person, if you want to keep your good reputation, I would say you need to stand behind that, even if those birds go directly to the chopping block or to someone else, or are in quarantine for however long one quarantines. And then call it a lesson learned.

I would just like to update everyone on what happened after I texted back the woman:

I decided the right thing to do was just shut my mouth and take them back. I made a quarantine pen for them and texted her back that she could drop them off over the weekend and I would give her money back. She then informed me at that point that she was going on vacation for a week and wanted to know if she could just wait until she gets back to do it... I said NO! Needless to say I did not take back any chickens and will NEVER offer that again. As it turns out I think most people who want to "return" chickens are probably difficult people anyway.

I think you're right - some people are just difficult and love to complicate things for everyone. Glad you didn't end up having to take them back after all.

I am glad you ended up not having to take them back also. Thanks for posting this post, because it could happen to any of us. It's a lesson a lot of us can learn from.
