rooster versus feed bucket

Do you think I should pick him up while I pour the food instead? Then put him down once I've pour it all and got the girls in? Make him last to eat and therefore I'd be more "dominant"? I don't think responding to him with anger and violence will work because it made things worse before and it's not really my nature. I've read a lot about being "dominant" through resource control like making him last to eat, last in the coop, things like that. Any thoughts on that? Or I could just pour the food and then call them home, that was a good idea as well. They've usually followed me in by the time I pour the food though. He's a little hard to catch but he's never bitten me while holding him.

I'm a little bummed to be honest my last rooster was a puppy dog! I could take him anywhere and he never attacked me, but he still protected his girls vigilantly. I guess they all have different personalities.

dont cull a bird whose such a good guardian DX i wish i couldve kept mine he attacked my cat so bad he bled when he stalked my hen DX XD

well in some areas you may have to tough out a firey temper. where i live its worth being charged for food rather then loose your flock to something...
