My babies are two and three weeks old. Is it okay for them to have a few dried mealworms as treats? What about corn? I purchased some "Happy Hen Treats." I've given them just a few mealworms which they went completely berzerko over(!) but I haven't tried a little corn - wanted to get some great advice here before I did that! (The young girl at the feed store had no idea.) I also noticed another thread about "grit." It seemed the general consensus was that they need it so okay to do it now? They are eating chick starter crumbles. Sorry, I know I sound very ignorant and I'm reading all I can. Thank you for your help.

It's ok to give them a few treats, but not too many because they need to eat their medicated chick feed. I fed them a few mealworms here and there and they loved it as well!

They were only a week old when I started giving them treats- I wanted to spoil them so bad! Giving them a little cracked corn is ok.

I also fed them tiny little pieces of broccoli, and they loved that too!

I have the same question!!!! i feel like my little nuggets are still small and was not sure what to treat them with... if i do veggies cooked or un-cooked? what are other fun treats to watch them gobble up? they are very excited to try new things... also they seem eager to fly around and roost... they perch on the side of the tank and on my hand but not on the stick I left in their tank... any suggestions?

Aww! what a cute chick!!

You can cook them if you want, but it's not necessary. I also gave them broccoli, bread, lettuce, bananas, scrambled eggs (!!!), and watermelon. Hope this helps and good luck!

Don't forget to add grit when you give them treats.

I was also wanting to spoil mine when they were tiny! Great that you got the grit!

I would defiantly recommend Medicated. It helps them get the nutrients they need to fight diseases when they are older. It's very important that you get them the medicated kind.

We used medicated and we haven't had any diseases our flock.

Thanks me too! she waddles like a fool when she walks!!! too cute! she is a white cochin. i am obsessed! I read so much on medicated vs not medicated... so I bought both... and just about running out of medicated... i think ill buy more and work medicated and non both in together!
