No eggs, help!

Hi

the marans are interesting, I had a pair that would lay consistently for 6 out the 7 days provided they were free to roam the garden every day, however if I didn't let them out the coop often enough it reduced to 1/2 or no eggs pre week, the laying would improve again when regularly let out .. id say moody girls give them time

Just like to add, they have a decent size run  but not good enough to get them laying

Thank you for the suggestions! We already had plans to enlarge to run area, I guess it will happen sooner than later!

Mine our 25 weeks and still no eggs for me as well. :(. Hopefully this light helps with u and me:)

Good luck!

UPDATE

Still no eggs! We added lights to the coop and run to make sure they are getting 14+ hours of light every day. We started free ranging them, which they seem to thoroughly enjoy. I am absolutely certain they aren't laying eggs while free ranging. A week after adding the lights the one chicken that was laying then stopped, started up again. A second chicken began laying. Everything looked promising. Then, it was all over!! Nothing now in a week! At this point they are all pushing 40 weeks. I'm about ready to give up.

Are they molting? My last hen that wasn't laying took at least thirty weeks before she layed her first egg. Are they squatting at all?

Not molting! One of them (not the one I know for sure was laying consistently) will do some funky little dance when I go to pet her and then squat down, but that is all that's happening.:/

It may have to do with less sunlight hours that is starting to happen. I also am having this problem and I just put in a florescent light on a timer that goes on at 5 am off at 7am on at 7 p.m and off at 9 pm. The hours in between my chick our outside their coop. They need 14 hours of light to stimulate them to lay.
this is my first season with chickens. i have six hens and was getting 20-24 eggs a week. sometimes 5 in one day...sometimes 3 or 4. in the last month egg production has dropped to one a day and my maran hasn't laid in a week. blue wyandottes are the only ones producing. brown leghorns quit about two weeks ago. hoping it something as simple as day length .. worried they were becoming ill or something

The shorter days definitely affects egg production. My problem is I have 5 and only one ever started laying! Possibly a second started laying, but the rest never have.

Are they eating or acting normal? This may be a silly question, but do you have grit & oyster shell available? If yes to all I bet it is due to the light change.

i had to go out of town for three weeks so DW has been taking care of things....she told me they were laying less and less...,.we discussed diet changes etc. nothing has changed.....i was changing their water and feeding them this morning when i noticed their grit box was empty. don't know how long. So, your silly question is not, that helps thank you.
