Female?

Okay, I promise this is the last time I'm asking. My ducks both make this noise when I pick them up and are 8 weeks old tomorrow. I need your expert advice in telling me the sex.

I am new to raising ducks this year, and everyone kept telling me to listen to how they quack...which may be easy for experienced people!! LOL!! Sounds like a bunch of quacking to me! Soooo...I had to resort to waiting it out, watching for the tail feathers to curl seems to take forever, but at least then you'll know for sure. And yup...wouldn't you know...both my Pekins are males!!

They'll be fine together as long as there are no females around.

That's just it....my other 2 ended up being FEMALE khaki campbells...so far no probs...but they're just going on 5 months old...I keep a close eye on them...hoping for the best!! BTW...will a broody hen hatch a duck egg??? Need some more girls!! lol

Yes many people use broody hens to hatch ducklings.

Soooo...after it's hatched...does the chicken take care of them? Do the ducks? Do I? LOL!! I don't want to just go in blind so I figured I'd ask while we're on the subject!!

Chicken will look after the duckling as though they were her own and actually they are, she'll talk to them and them her before they hatch then when the ducklings hatch they will imprint on her as their mama. Which may cause a personality disorder when you eventually want them to be ducks lol. The ducks can't have them until they are at least the size of the adults they will see them as outsiders.

They are making that noise because they are distressed - it is neither a quack nor a rasp; you will need to record them during normal activity without them being restrained and upset.

They are probably female at a guess though

Got yourself a girl there.
