I'M HOOKED

I have the vertical ones--I actually bought the set up at my local feed store. It's just a hanging 5 gallon bucket with 4 nipples. It works really well. I'm using it inside the coop now for backup water but they don't use it much--mostly just use the outside traditional hanging water fount (metal). I noticed the nipples seem to leak sometimes, but sometimes not. When it leaks it isn't much at all. Plus, with plastic you can add some ACV and with metal you can't. I see your fount is plastic so that's good. I've given mine ACV (just a splash per gallon of water) since day 1. But now, they aren't really getting any since they rarely drink from the inside water. I'll keep you posted on my feeder exploration! I'm trying different things. My son made a great feeder out of a plastic sectioned chip/dip tray ($1 store) and a 3 gallon bucket with lid from home depot. Drilled holes in the bottom of the bucket--screwed onto the tray and set it on a cinderblock. Feed comes out nicely and it's covered, but the birds bill out the feed and I had so much on the ground, I trashed that idea. Going to put a piece of gutter along the coop fence (under an overhang) and try that.

I've read that the horizontal ones don't leak so I may give them a try. Keep us posted on the feeder experiments.
