im sorry if this has been posted already but i swear ive spent the past few hours searching here and on google on where to find it here in canada (im in BC). jeffers pets doesnt ship it to canada and first state charges $58 just for the shipping :S so im at a total loss of where to purchase it. ive been on some pharma sites but theres no public access. on monday ill start calling feed stores and maybe vets?

im open to any other ideas or if you can direct me to a site that works? thanks thanks!

cheers :)

Have you tried Canadian Poultry Consultants (they're in BC), Fancier Specialty (Baden, ON), or Weber Poultry (Guelph, ON)? Those were the only places that came up when I did a quick Google search. If they don't pan out for you, I would call around to any avian vets in your area or maybe try to find a local hatchery and see if they sell it or can send in to the supplier they get it from.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! The Canadian Poultry Consulting site is under construction so I'll have to check back later. I can't find any sites for Fanciers Specialty or Weber poultry (only a bbq chicken roaster???

). I was in touch with 2 local vet offices who said to try Buckerfields but they don't carry it. I've found compendiums about the product on Zoetis, Ceva and Merial but no actual retail on it. A friend who has poultry says he never vaccinated his birds so wouldn't know, and the lady I'm buying the eggs off of has never vaxxed her birds either :/
I'll be calling a different vet today, they seem to be more "farmy", as well as the farm I got my first pullets from.

I didn't realize the search would be this difficult! Geez :/

Ok so there are NO local vets who carry it, no supply stores deal with it and according to 3 different chicken farms I'm too small an enterprise to be worrying about it. Just to practice safe biohazard routines.
Maybe it's because my chickens are my pets too and I would do all I can for them that I'm nervous about not "having all shots!", is that normal??

:/

I suppose its pretty normal. I don't vaccinate my chickens for mereks. I've never had a problem, if that makes you feel any better. It sounds like the only way you'll be able to get the vaccine is if you deal with the high shipping cost. I guess you'll need to decide if its that important to you :/

I know this thread is old, but were you ever successful in finding a place in Canada to buy the Marek's vaccine? I am having a terrible time with this as well. My vet says she can't get it. The hatchery I've used before can sell me some, but theirs comes premixed and must be transported in a thermos of liquid nitrogen. It's 6 hrs round trip to go pick it up, and it must be used right away and the rest discarded.

Is there nowhere in Canada to purchase the type that is in pill/wafer form that people talk about, which is cheap and easy to ship, and can be split and mixed in smaller portions? I wonder if it can be shipped/imported from another country without too much hassel... Or if it would be for a strain we don't even have here...

My neighbour has been confirmed to have Mareks in her flock. I am just starting to do research on vaccinating chicks from now on but can't find anything available in Canada. Did anyone have any luck? I was following this thread but it ended without enough information to proceed ahead

Contact Rochester Hatchery and they can direct you to a vaccine although I think it's only good for Day old Chicks?
