My name is Mildred Cotton, I am from Commerce, GA. I am a new chicken owner. One day I decided I wanted chickens and I built me a coop on my own with material around the barn. Here I am a chicken owner. I love my chickens. I just started my chicken flock a month or so ago. Let me introduce my flock. My flock started out with…. four Red Sex Link hens, Mattie, Molly, Chicky Wicky (named by granddaughter), and Hazel, I have one Barneveler hen, Matilda, and two Silkie Roos, George and Gert (was Gertrude until I found out he was a roo, then he became Gert). I also have a Dominick, “Hi Chicken” (my two year old grandson fell in love with her tried to catch her the day after I got her and kept saying, “Hi Chicken, Hi Chicken,” therefore she became “Hi Chicken”) and a Black Sex Link hen, “Willy.” (Also named by grandchildren, long story, so I won’t get into that one). I am excited about joining the group. Thank you for excepting me.

Welcome to BYC, Mildred. Glad you decided to join our flock. I love your chicks' names. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) names our hens after Disney princesses. You have a good mix of breeds. I've raised both Black and Red Sex Links for years, and they are hardy, egg laying machines. I'm especially fond of my Black Sex Links as they are so friendly. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
