Welcome to BYC, Julie. Glad you decided to join our flock. You are getting some really good breeds. Black Sex Links are my favorites (technically they are not breeds, but hybrids). They are hardy, friendly, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of breeds) and they have consistently been my best layers, frequently churning out over 300 eggs per hen per year. I think you were probably wise as a beginner to pass on the White Leghorn. They are excellent layers, but are high strung and flighty. Mine screamed bloody murder whenever I handled them, which is why I don't have Leghorns anymore. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can.
