My homemade incubator.

2 of the 4 silkie eggs made it :) now I have 13 more eggs ready to go into lockdown. 2 of which already externally piped.

here is one of the silkie chicks that hatched yesterday.

All in all I would say this incubator works pretty good!

Oh yes, I get spikes with the syrofoam incubator, forget the name of it but the standard one they sell as TSC. but withthis it stays stable. turns on at 100 and off and 102 which is perfect.

well we hatched out 10 babies, 3 different batch. The batch of silkies was 50% hatch rate, eggs from my flock were 50% hatch rate, eggs from neighbor was 71%hatch rate, so we are gettign better :) I am setting 8 silkie eggs and a few of my sussex eggs this week. here are the babies:

Partridge silkie/ golden comet
IT's the chick that looks orange. We kept it

Partridge silkie/ red sexlink
There were 2 that looked like this, we kept the other

Partridge silkie/ Leghorn
We kept one on the right.

Speckled Sussex/ White leghorn. We kept the one on the right with the spots

and of course the silkies, which we kept. They will be a week old tomorrow!
