I am all done with the outside of the coop and started working on the inside. I have the nesting boxes done, the floor and walls coated now looking at building roosts. I know that they need to be higher than the nesting boxes. Does that mean the top of the nesting boxes or just the actual nesting area. Also wondering about the pros and cons of using a ladder style roost vs flat style roost.
I will post some pictures this evening.

Thanks

The chickens really don't care about the style. Build what works best for your building. A single elevation keeps them from fighting over the best positions. The farther above the nests, the less likely they'll be to sleep in the nests.
The roosts need to be fairly wide so they can cover their toes if it gets cold where you are.
Try to place the roosts/nests/door so the chickens don't have to walk under the roosts(feces) to get to the nests.

I like those ^ tips... I think the higher the better. Ours like to be as high as they can get.

We took out our ladder type... they didn't use the lower rungs, they just got pooped on.
