Does anyone near Pittsburgh know of any animal swaps in the area other than the ones at Tractor Supply? I'm looking for something a little larger.

I know they had one recently, maybe contact them?

Uniontown has a swap once per month. Next 1 should be mid-May. Always on Sun 7am-whenever everyone clears out. $3 per vehicle to enter whether buying or selling regardless of number in vehicle. Great variety there too.

Does anyone know of somewhere where I could take my one rooster ? He recently got aggressive with my docile roo to the point where he can't even eat around him without getting attacked. I can't keep letting this go on but I don't know where to take him or if anyone would even want him any ideas ?

Unfortunately you may have to cull him if you can't find someone who wants him. If it is a desirable breed and he is an exceptional example of that breed then you may advertise him locally. But his aggression issues should be mentioned up front. To be honest most people who would take him would probably do so with the intent of butchering him for the table. With that being the case you have to take a hard look at what you are willing to do with your birds.
You understand he is a problem bird, to do what is best for the rest of your flock you should separate him to prevent him harming another flock member. Then either advertise him locally (or on here in the 'for sale' section) or decide to cull him yourself. It isn't an easy decision, but is a part of the responsibility of chicken tending that is less than pleasant, that is for sure!

You may find someone close to you who can take him for butchering or show you how to do it yourself so when it happens again you will be better able to do it yourself.... good luck, I know it isn't a pleasant situation to be in.

Hi, just joined and wondering ... anyone in the North Hills, Shaler, Hampton, Ross or nearby who'd be willing to help get the wife on board by sharing first hand experience? My daughter and I have been trying to talk her into getting a small number of chickens for the backyard for sometime now but no luck. Almost had her when the pet store in the McIntyre Square had some mature chickens and she saw how friendly they were but couldn't sway her that they aren't the dirty, messy and noisy creatures she's convinced they'll be. Maybe if she saw some nearby, talked to someone with first hand experience ???

Welcome to the boards! Sorry no one answered yet, this thread isn't nearly as busy as the other Pennsylvania one.... there are a few posters on that thread who may be close enough to help you out. I wish I was closer, my hubby and I could talk her ear off until she gave in out of desperation!!

Lots of great folks on there who may be able to help you come up with great ideas to get her into your corner on the coop idea! Come over and introduce yourself and stay for a while, we love having more folks to talk chicken and the guys will certainly appreciate having another fellow to help them out!

I dont know of any large ones there is one in Butler Tractor Supply tomorrow 11-4. I will have Blue Wyandottes at this sale as well as Red Laced Wyandottes a few Silver Laced Wyandottes. I also have Heritage Rhode Island Reds.
I am close to this Tractor Supply, do you know when there will be another one there? Is there a website that will show dates or are they only certain times of the year?
Thanks Stacy

Not quite a chicken owner, yet, but will be in August!! I have no idea what I am getting myself into, but the house we are moving to comes with a gorgeous coop and egg-laying hens!! I will check with other board, if we have them, on where to process chickens if the time comes to that. There is a possibility that the coop contains a rooster so we may need to take care of him seeing as the city ordinance doesn't allow for roosters. Anywho I definitely am looking forward to learning about how to take care of my girls!!
