New ducklings

Hi i have a question we have mascovy ducks but daisy our female this is her first lot of eegs and yesterday she kicked out 1 of her eegs that started tpo hatch i went there to feed her and found it on the ground i saved it from ants it has made it through the night but this morning when i went down to check she kicked another on out sad to say it was too late for that one i was wondering y she would do this for so nowi will be checking on the hr to try and save the other 15 is there anything i need to do
 
My hen was sitting on 17 eggs because another hen was sneaking in and laying under her, on hatch day she ended up throwing out about three one didnt make it but i managed to save the others, i can only think that she did it because she was sitting on too many she managed to hatch 10 eggs perfectly after that 3were duds she raised the 10 but never took back the two i saved when i tried to put them back the next day just tried to attack them, just try to keep an eye out and hopefully she will stop, good luck! :)
 
Ok thanks thats wot my hubby said so we will just keep trying to save any others she throws out this is our first time in this so i hope we are doing the right thingğ
 
Hi @heodi79. I would say you are doin the right thing by saving the hatchlings Daisy kicks out. It sounds like a strange thing to do and I wish I could offer some words of wisdom but I am new to duckling myself as my duck hatched 2 of her 20 eggs on Saturday just gone. Hi just wondering if anyone could help me i have lost 7 chioks in the past 10 days they are bleeding in the nottom area and there is a hole the size of a tennis ball in a couple i just dont know wat uts from they were still laying eggs but they still died

@heodi79 Looks to me like someone in your flock is cannibalizing the others. Get those being eaten into a separate area away from those that still have normal bottoms. wash them real well with saline wash and use either Neosporin with out pain relief or My favorite because it heals and disguises the wound Blue Kote TSC carries it. Look at all your hens bottoms the one who has no feathers missing is probably your culprit unless you have a rat in your coop. Sad to say chickens will do this kind of thing. But also this is the duck thread so I'd also post here.https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures sorry for your losses. Once you remove the ones with the missing feathers and wounds make sure they cannot get to each other because chickens are drawn to red that is one reason I like Blue Kote so well.
