hi yall! this is my first ever Hactch-A-Long and the first time iv ever incubated eggs so please hang in there with me throughout this.

Incubator: homemade styrofoam cooler

Eggs: 14 Silkie Eggs (put in 10/10) and a Turken Egg (put in 10/12)

Notes: I hand turn my eggs three times a day, once in the morning, second when i get home from school, and third when i go to bed.....i didnt candle my eggs before putting them in but ill be candleing on the seventh day and right before i put them on lockdown on the ninteenth day.

Estimated time to hatch: October 30th for the silkie eggs and November 1st for the turken egg

*The eggs are on day 3 of incubation and so far everything is going great!* (10/12/14)

I started Oct 1st with 12 barnyard mix from my own trio. 2 hens 1 roo. So far 1 not fertile, lost one early on. So far the other 10 are developing just fine. Today a I started 12 RIR shipped eggs and 12 barnyard mixed also shipped. 4 of my own bantam.can't wait to see the out come.

I am using a Janoel 48. This my 3rd time using them. We have had very good hatch rate on shipped eggs so far. First time using our own eggs in them.

This is the first time we ever tried hatching our own eggs. Always sold the chicks before they started laying eggs. This time we kept a few of our favorite ones. Now we can't wait to see what we get from our babies.10 more days to go can't wait.

I'll join in! I will be setting my first set of eggs on the 26th! Having to plan ahead my weekend off for hatch day!

Will be attempting shipped eggs...Black/blue copper marans, blue/black/splash jersey giant, olive preggers, and hopefully some seramas!

I've been playing around with my new incubator so I can learn it's quirks. Using a Brinsea Octagon Eco 20

Today is going to be stormy! its already very dark with rain and thunder....im worried sick about my incubator because its very possible we will be loosing power today!!!!

Ok.. so finalizing my egg orders. Olive Eggers are a no go since they quit laying on the breeder so we are now planning for:

6 Blue/Black Copper Marans
6 Blue/Black/Splash Jersey Giants
12 Seramas
and 6 Isbars...

I think that comes up to more than 24... by limit on the Brinsea 20... I'm hoping the serama eggs will allow more room...

I just got so excited...

Batch 1 went in to lock down today. Candled before putting them in. All are still moving, now for the longest 3 days of the hatch.

ScarlettGirl11 Glad to hear you didn't have any power outages. We had 5 days of storms hope for no outages here either.
