I cant catch them?!?

Hi and :welcome

We have a couple of those :p A plastic garden rake works really well, it can be kind of hard getting chickens inside a net. Wave the rake over them to get them to move, and then keep the rake behind them to guide them to the coop. If they try to dart off to one side, block their way with the rake. (If at first they don't get the message, tap them on the wings or bum with the rake and they will know to get away from it :p)

We've been using this method for months, it's very successful. The only downside is that it doesn't work well for multiple wayward chickens, but if you only have one you should be okay.

Good luck!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Good luck! I have never had the problem, so I am not sure how to catch them. But once you do catch this bird, lock them in the coop for about one week. That will teach them to sleep there instead of the trees. Chickens tend to return to the places they survived the night at. After one week, they should be converted to sleeping in the coop.

Keep us posted!

I agree with the rake - I use a spring rake as a herding stick to guide them where I want them to go - another thing I did was make sure the coop is in a corner of the yard, so when I run them that direction they don't have much choice but to go inside.
