Hi all. I have one female Quail and live in a suburb of NY.
Very limited options here for feed. Can you help me pick one of these?

1. I can buy Nutrena Walnut Grove Poultry Layer Feed Crumble from Tru Value and have it shipped to a local store.

2. Another option is the only feed store around - about 45min away. They emailed back: We sell Sporting Bird Layer Pellets for $20.99 and crumbles for $18.99 both are in 50lb bags or I have Gamebird Feed in a 5lb bag for $8.99. These three feeds would be your best choices.

3. Or I can keep her on starter feed and add oyster grit.

These seem to be my only options. Pick one ;)

Ok, thanks.
I emailed again asking for protein content. I also found another local farm to check out.

What she is on now *may be fine, but my Dad bought it (hatching quail was supposed to be His project with my daughter..) Unfortunately, he doesn't remember exactly what he bought and the bag is gone since it is stored in a closed bucket. It's whatever was recommended by the feed store as starter food for game bird. And they told him it could be fed for up to 16 weeks. Not sure I trust this without knowing, though she seems perfectly happy and healthy.

She also eats veggies an berries. Yesterday I gave her some tiny pebbles as grit. I have oyster shell and granite grit on order and I will offer separate from her food.
