Duck ponds--help!

I have five Indian Runners and I'm looking to improve my duck pond situation. Currently, we've been limping along with a kiddie pool that I empty every other day. It's ok, but it wastes a lot of water and mucks up their yard. Recently I moved them to a night pen in the back of the garden, and dumping that much water there every other day is just not possible.

What systems do you all use?

Ideally I'd like to have a small duck pond that can drain with a soaker hose right to my garden. I don't know if anyone does this, or if it would even be possible with all the duck mess in the water.

We do a kiddie pool. I tried to attach a spigot but there wasn't enough pressure for it to drain in any reasonable time. A soaker hose is a good idea but they get clogged super easy and duck poop is not going to be your friend. From what I have seen on here most people with a pond have to have really heavy duty pump and even then have to be emptied fairly regularly. Maybe some in will chime in with something that does work. I'm interested too.
 
Hi! I have the same issue currently! A kiddie pool--dumping it every day---creating a water hole in the yard, which the ducks then turn into a mud hole. My idea (to happen this weekend)...I got a bigger kiddie pool, dug a hole for it next to the creek, install a drain/valve--so it can then drain into the creek, instead of the yard. Since, it's bigger I won't be able to dump it out, but at least I am going to avoid the mud hole of a yard.

Everything I have found on here. is are pricey pumps with a very elaborate design. Something, I am not willing to do just yet.

What if you put some rocks all around it? The water would still be dumped there, but at least the ducks couldn't make a mess of it and no one would be walking around in the wet yard.
 
My runner (and my Cayuga, actually) guy is perfectly happy with a sled (like to snow sled) that he can step in and out of. He isn't really a fan of water. Strange for a duck, but still that is how it is. I can dump it easily every couple of days with minimal water waste. I can also move it around the yard to share the nutritive value of the water.

We use an old bath tub that is sunk down into the ground a bit. We empty it with a bucket when the water gets dirty.
 
Recently I dug a whole about two feet deep in one end sloping up to one foot, after that I sunk a tarp into the whole and filled it up with water. You can make this whole as big as you want, for my three ducks i dug it about 3 feet by two feet. The dirt settles on the bottom and about once a week I stick the hose at the bottom, it flushes out all of the dirt and then it's clean. At first I ran into the problem that it mucked up the yard. So I picked the lowest part of the pond that the water drained out of and dug a little ditch with rocks at the bottom, my ducks love it because not only do they have a fresh pond to swim in (which they use all the time) they have a little muddy stream to play in!
