New chick on the block

Hello everyone! I'm new to BYC, but on my second flock. Unfortunately I lost my first one in the divorce (of course) but I've started a new one and have 24 barred rock pullets that are lovely!
I have one little chick, we call her our Naked Lady. Lol. When she lost her chick fuzz her feathers did not come in. At first I thought the other chicks were starting their pecking order but I've watched closely, they are not pecking her. Her feathers are just now starting to come in and the rest of mine are fully feathered. Any ideas on what may be going on with my Naked Lady?

What breed is she? Is she a naked neck chicken?? Do they have proper food? She may just be slow to feather. OR she may be a he. Males feather slower than females.

Welcome New chick. It would help if you posted photos of her and age, when they were taken. Would she by any chance come from frizzle breeding? If two frizzles are bred together, the resulting chicks will have poor feathering and their feathers are very prone to break off. Does she have any signs of skin disease? If not, she may be a he - they are slower to feather out. They do get comb and wattles earlier than girls.

Hello everyone! Thanks for the warm welcomes! Naked Lady is a Barred Rock just like the other 23. We ordered them from our local farm equipment store Bardstown Mills and they were supposedly all pullets. I'll get a good pic of her in the morning.
Her skin actually looks really good, and like I said all the others are fully feathered and they're all eating the same feed. I have them on the country acres brand of crumble. They are 10 weeks old today. My first flock I fed non medicated starter/grower to. These ladies I fed medicated for the first bag and then switched to non medicated. Naked Lady shows no signs of being under the weather, she runs around eats, drinks, scratches and pecks just like all of the others. Tractor supply has a kind of lotion you can put on to keep the other from pecking, but I don't think that's the problem. There's also a "feather fix" mix. Maybe we should try that? I'm worried that she may not make it through the winter here, and she has trouble roosting because of not having feathers on her wings.

Welcome to BYC That is very strange, that she's not feathering in and it is a worry, with winter coming. One of our members here, @Kassaundra , has a completely naked chicken, you can read his story and see him here: http://www.theeasygarden.com/threads/rudy-the-survivor.15278/ On page 11 there are some pics of him in his winter sweater,which Kassuandra made him to help him stay warm. You can get some ideas there, if needed.

Sometimes there is a genetic reason that determines a delay in a chicken's feathering. Feathering in the first weeks of a chicken's life is genetically controlled by a few autosomal genes, and on rare occasions autosomal genes retarding feather growth can occur in any breed. This delay in feathering is usually only temporary, and at some point your Barred Rock will get her complete adult plumage. In the meanwhile, as Sumi suggested, you may need to take some extra steps to keep her warmer than the rest of the flock with winter coming on. Good luck with Naked Lady.
